Seven shelves, one block: a size behaves the same way in every corner of the Darong range.

Eight cuts, half a minute

The same studio frames you get on the product pages, one piece after another, with the size run and the price on screen.

Shop what is in it

Nothing in it is styled beyond what you see: one garment, one colourway, one light.

Every piece in the film runs the same size ladder in every shade it comes in.

All 78 cuts

Between two sizes? Measure these three

A soft tape, held level and snug against the body rather than over a jumper. Two minutes, and the size question stops being a guess.

The full chart
01

Bust, at the fullest point

Tape flat across the back, level under the arms. A fitted rib reads closer to the body than the tape suggests, because the knit does part of the work.

02

Waist, at the narrowest

Bend sideways and the crease is your waist. This is the number that decides a two-piece: the top follows the bust, the trouser follows this.

03

Hip, nine inches below the waist

Wide-leg trousers hang from here, not from the waistband. If the hip lands between two sizes, take the larger and pull the drawstring.

04

Height, if a trouser worries you

Our wide-leg sets are cut for an average inseam. Taller than that and they read cropped, shorter and they break on the foot, which is a twenty-minute hem.

05

Which way you want it to sit

Same body, two answers. The smaller size reads as a second skin. The larger falls closer to the trouser you already own.

06

The shade, last

Every colourway of a cut runs the same sizes, so choosing the colour never costs you the fit.

Take those three numbers to any page in the Darong collection and the size question turns into a yes or a no.

Where the Darong range splits

Six ways into the same wardrobe. Each one is a real slice of the catalogue, counted on the build.

Darong two-piece lounge sets

Twenty sets where the top and the trouser come off one roll, so the greys still agree in March.

Darong matching sets for women

The whole two-piece shelf in one place: lounge, trouser, short and skirt, all on the same block.

Darong tank tops

Twelve tanks cut longer through the body than the one you probably own.

ribbed tops

The knit that pulls a cuff back to its own width, across twenty-two cuts.

What one block actually buys you

The claim behind every page on this site, and the part of it we cannot make true for you.

How we work

The pattern underneath the pattern

A block is the shape before any style line is drawn on it: where the shoulder sits, how deep the armhole goes, how far it is from shoulder to waist. Draft every style from scratch and a medium means one thing in a tank and something else in a knit. Draft them all from one and the letter stops moving.

The shade stops costing you the fit

Fifty-five of our cuts run the whole ladder in every colourway they come in. That is the part worth checking on any label you buy from: a shade that stops at medium is a shade that was cut as an afterthought.

Two halves that still match in March

The sets are cut from one roll rather than two, so the top and the trouser fade at the same rate. It is the reason a grey set still reads as one outfit after a winter of washing.

What it does not fix

A block settles the letter, not the drape. A rib clings where a woven skims, and the same size in a lounge trouser and in a bodycon skirt will sit on you differently. That part is the fabric talking, and the fabric is named on every product page.

What the range adds up to

Four figures, all of them counted on the build rather than typed in. Hold them against the rail in your own wardrobe.

78

cuts in the range, each drafted on the same block

157

All four come straight out of the Darong basics on the build, so a number that changes changes on every page at once.

Written for the minute before you order

Fabric, fit and the small print in the side seam, written for the minute before you order.

The journal

Two federal rules govern the label sewn into your side seam. What they require, what they leave out, and how to read one before the garment goes in the machine.

7 min read

Stretch and recovery are not the same property, and almost every complaint about a knit top is a complaint about the second one. The cuff test, and what it tells you.

A letter on a label is not a measurement. Take bust, waist and hip once, and every page on this site turns into a yes or a no.

Since 2017, on one block

We started in 2017 with one rib tank and a complaint: the medium fitted, the large bagged, and the colour you wanted was gone by Thursday. Nine years on, the block is the same across the range, and a size behaves the same way in every cut here.

Nine years on, the Darong studio still drafts every cut on that one block.

What Darong is

Asked before ordering

What people ask about Darong

Will your Darong size be the same in every colour?

Yes, and that is the point of cutting everything on one block. Fifty-five of the seventy-eight cuts here run the full XS-to-XL ladder, and the size you wear in the black one is the size you wear in the coffee. Choosing the shade never costs you the fit.

Will your Darong rib top stretch out after a few washes?

The rib in this range is a rayon or cotton knit with spandex through it, which is what pulls the cuff and the hem back to their own width. Wash it cold, dry it flat, and it comes back the shape it started. What kills a rib is heat: a hot dryer takes the recovery out of the elastane and it does not come back.

Will a Darong camisole go see-through on you in daylight?

Seventeen of the cuts here are double-lined, two layers of the same knit rather than one, and those are the ones to take in white, off-white and light yellow. A single-layer rib in a pale shade behaves like every single-layer rib in a pale shade.

Do the Darong two-piece sets give you pockets?

Twenty-three pieces across the range carry pockets, and most of the wide-leg sets are among them: deep enough for a phone, sewn into the side seam rather than patched on. The waist takes a drawstring, so a hip that sits between two sizes is a pull rather than a problem.

How should you pick between two Darong sizes?

By how you want the piece to sit, not by the label in your last order. The smaller size reads as a second skin and shows the line of the body. The larger one falls closer to a trouser you already own. Measure bust, waist and hip with a soft tape held level, and compare those three numbers with the chart on the size guide.
